Rescuing a Rock Star
Rocky and I met just by chance.  I was attending a local event where a rescue organization I support had a booth.  I stopped by to say hi and there was Rocky… He was itching to walk around so I volunteered.  We walked for a few hours together and he was so fun to be with.  He pranced around like he owned the venue, was so confident with all he met (human or dog), and just had this air about him that said “I am a star!” Upon returning I learned Rocky was in need of a foster home for the week. I having two large dogs and a big family, had no room for another dog but once again volunteered for the task. That was it! Rocky got along splendidly with my husband and kids.  He welcomed all attention and couldn’t cuddle on any one lap long enough to show his appreciation.   My biggest concern was, would my large, young dogs overwhelm or possibly even hurt him while playing?  Rocky wasted no time in proving he could handle a German Shepherd and a Doberman!  He joined in play, made fast friends, and soon was running the show!  After a week my family decided we couldn’t live without him… Adoption complete! We all decided because of his great confidence, showmanship, and his sweet cuddly soft side that Rocky was not the right name for him. We decided Rock Star suited him much better!  Today, Rock Star is a true member of the family.  None of us could imagine life without him….

Rescuing a Rock Star

Rocky and I met just by chance.  I was attending a local event when I saw Oregon Dog Rescue’s booth. I support the valuable work they do, so  I stopped by to say hi.

There was Rocky. He was itching to walk around so I volunteered.  We walked for a few hours together and he was so fun to be with.  He pranced around like he owned the venue, was so confident with all he met (human or dog), and just had this air about him that said “I am a star!”

After our walk,  I learned that Rocky was in need of a foster home for the week. I, having two large dogs and a big family, had no room for another dog.  It’s hard to say no to a dog in need, so I volunteered for the task. That was it!

Rocky got along splendidly with my husband and kids.  He welcomed all the attention and couldn’t cuddle on any one lap long enough to show his appreciation.   My biggest concern was, “Would my large young dogs overwhelm or possibly even hurt him while playing?”

About five months after we adopted him, our 3-year-old doberman, Kota Bear, passed away suddenly of heart failure. We were heartbroken.  Rock Star helped us grieve by sitting on our laps and letting us just love on him, and made us laugh and remember that life goes on.

Today, Rock Star is a true member of the family.  None of us could imagine life without him….

    Hi Rock Star and Cherish,

Thank you for the wonderful story about finding Rock Star. It doesn’t suprise me a bit that he can stand up to those big dogs, after all, he’s a Rock Star!

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss of Kota Bear. It is comforting to know that Rock Star was there to help you through the grieving process.
